My name is Megan. My first language is English, but I also speak Mexican Food fluently. I have a rockstar husband, Lance, who makes my life happy and not boring. We’re both from Alabama, and we spent almost three years in DC with our dog and cat. I was pretty lonely there, so we moved back to the south in 2009 and bought our first house in Nashville, Tennessee.
No, neither of us like country music. Yes, I own a pair of cowboy boots.
I am a writer, an avid reader and movie watcher, a musician, a democrat, a cook, a wife, a big sister, a friend, and a new mommy (unless you count being a mom to my dog, which I kind of do since she taught me how to deal with poop without engaging my gag reflex).
After my son was born I experienced a crisis of faith, which I honestly believe has made me a better person. Now, even though I’m struggling every day with reconciling my faith and the world, I believe in a loving God and I am trying to live my life according to the true teachings of a non-American, non-white, non-middle-class, non-Republican/non-Democrat Jesus, although I admit it’s hard to have peace in my heart when I want to throw rocks at my redneck neighbor. But it’s part of the struggle.
ABOUT THE NAME
The story goes, the Israelites’ last stop as they made their way across the middle eastern desert was a place called Kadesh. They had to wait in this land before they could cross the Jordan River in order to enter the promised land. Metaphorically, I think this is the place I am in… the place where God is testing me, building me up, strengthening my spirit.
Soon I’ll cross the River and embrace the promises that wait for me on the other side. Soon, as Donald Miller says, I’ll be close enough to the Father to see the lines on His face.
